Make childhood brain cancer history.
Unfortunately, childhood cancer still kills more children than any other disease in Australia and8 in 10 childhood cancer survivors develop at least one so-called late effect – meaning side effects appearing after cancer treatment received as a child.
Our researchers need your help to develop new, less toxic treatment methods.
With breakthroughs in cancer research,
This doesn't have to be the future.
WE'RE CHANGING CHILDHOOD BRAIN CANCER OUTCOMES
A project that could save childrens' lives
In this project, Dr Cheung and her team want to test if blocking MYCN and USP5 can be a way of successfully treating brain cancers like neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma – either on its own or in combination with common chemotherapies or radiotherapies.
If successful, Dr Cheung also hopes this project can be rapidly translated into clinical trials in the future. To progress to the next stage of their research to prove its success, Dr Cheung and her team need your help.

LORETTA'S TESTIMONIAL
Loretta, Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and metastatic breast cancer in 2018
“I will be forever grateful to Cancer Council for their help in my time of need, it was a huge help to get me through those few months of a terminal illness diagnosis.
I did feel a bit embarrassed that I needed this help but then remembered I sponsored Cancer Council for a couple of years as a young adult. I was happy to know that my money was going towards helping people like myself, dealing with this disease, at a time when it was most needed.”
