We urgently need your help to save precious young lives

Did you know, for parents who have lost a child to cancer, Christmas is a painful reminder of what has been taken from them.

Every day, because of the kindness of people like you, Cancer Council NSW is investing in life-saving research to give Aussie kids the best chance of surviving cancer.

For all that we have learned, we still don’t know what causes 50% of childhood cancers, but we do know cancer kills more children than any other disease.

Kane and his dad

Children like Kane, who was just 12 when he was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma.

Kane was a good-hearted, normal Aussie kid. He loved cricket, playing computer games and hanging out with his little cousins. He always had a smile for the doctors and nurses in the hospital—no matter how sick he got.

But sadly, Kane’s cancer was both rare and extremely aggressive, and the treatment simply couldn’t keep up.

He died two weeks after his 13th birthday.

Natalie and her husband, Rick, don’t have any other children and Kane’s death has changed both of them forever. Their hearts are broken and can never be mended.

But now Natalie is telling Kane’s story to help raise money for research, and to prevent other parents from losing their children to cancer.

Will you help support the research that can stop children like Kane dying from cancer?

We urgently need more support to achieve the life-saving breakthroughs people with cancer need. The reality is that we cannot fund research like this without caring and compassionate people like you.

This is why your support right now is critical.

Unless we fund more research into childhood cancers, sadly many more children will die.

No child should have to go through scary, painful cancer treatment. And no parent should have to watch it happen.

Please make a generous gift this Christmas, and support life-saving cancer research.

Today, more than 84% of children with cancer will survive for five years or longer and most of these children will have a similar long-term prognosis as children who have never had cancer.

All cancers are cruel. But there’s something about childhood cancers that breaks my heart and sharpens my resolve, in equal measure
